as a local chapter:
Alpha Rho Chi unites students from various studies and years at the university. Alpha Rho Chi is coed and brothers are majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Architectural Studies, and various other allied arts. Though it is coed, we refer to all members as “brothers” out of respect for tradition and history. It is from this varied collection of brothers that the fraternity forms its family.
Here at UT, we are the Dinocrates chapter of Alpha Rho Chi, or APX.
We are named after the Greek architect and technical adviser for Alexander the Great. He is known for planning the city of Alexandria, the monumental funeral pyre for Hephaestion, the reconstruction of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, as well as other works.
as a national fraternity:
Alpha Rho Chi is a national professional coed fraternity for the students of architecture, and the allied arts. It was founded in 1914 to organize and unite in fellowship the architectural students in the universities and colleges of America so as to promote the artistic, scientific, and practical knowledge of the younger members of the profession.
Alpha Rho Chi chapters are located at universities with accredited schools of architecture. Chapter namesakes honor skilled ancient Greek, Roman, or Egyptian architects who have contributed to the foundation of architecture.
Alpha Rho Chi is proud of its ninety-two year history and boast of the contributions to the profession and architectural education made by its alumni and active members.
